During the approach for landing after a strike on 22 June 1955, Flying Officer Dick Currin flying the aircraft in number 3 position encountered severe jet wake close to the ground. During the attempt to overshoot the starboard wing of the aircraft contacted the ground and the aircraft spun off the runway and came to rest about 200 yards further on. Currin and his passenger AC1 Ron Wilkins were unhurt but the aircraft was a write off. |
