The trainee he had with him - LAC David Stuart Brown, 401489 - suffered a fractured arm. (Brown later served with 75 Squadron in New Guinea where he was captured and executed).
The sole occupant of R5185 - LAC Keith Abraham Baxter, 401483 - survived.
