Swing was corrected and straightened up in about 50 yards on a track some 10 feet to port of original track. After another 50 yards the a/c swung to starboard about 35 º's and travelled about 150-200yards practically straight when it commenced turning to port and the starboard wheel collapsed. After this swing to starboard the a/c started to drift to port and crossed a small trench about a foot deep, whereupon the a/c ground looped to port. The port undercarriage collapsed, with the a/c's dropping onto the mainplane and fuselage. With a deep gutter on the port side, the pilot applied port engine power, but a/c swung to starboard side and hit another gutter, causing the tail wheel to strike this gutter. the force of the hit caused the separation of the tail section.
